Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Brantford Water Damage is a free referral service run by an independent operator based in Ontario, Canada. We are not a restoration or waterproofing contractor.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Brantford Water Damage.

2. What we collect

From our forms: your name, phone number, email address, city or town, and (on our main request forms) a message describing your situation. Each form also records the page of the site the request was sent from.

From phone calls: the details you give us when you call, such as your name, phone number, address and what happened.

Google Analytics (only after you click Accept): basic usage data, such as the pages you visit, your general region, your device type and the words you type into the site search. Google Analytics does not load, and no analytics data is sent to Google, unless you click Accept on the cookie banner. Google Analytics does not receive your name, email or phone number. Please do not type personal details into the search box.

Ahrefs Web Analytics (every page): Ahrefs Web Analytics runs on every page, whether or not you accept cookies. It uses no cookies and counts page views without collecting personal information.

Server logs: our website host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security.

If you sign up on the search page to hear when we publish a new guide, we use that email address only to send you that update.

3. Why we collect it

We use your information to connect you with one local service company that can contact you about your request, and to reply to you ourselves when you contact us.

We use analytics data only to understand how the site is used and to improve it.

4. Who we share it with

One local service company per request. We share the details from your request (your name, phone number, email address, city or town, your message if the form asks for one, and the page the request was sent from) with one local service company so it can contact you about your request. Once that company receives your details, its own privacy practices apply.

Service providers that help us run the site. These include our form processor (Web3Forms), website host (Cloudflare Pages), web fonts (Google Fonts) and analytics tools (Google Analytics and Ahrefs). They handle data only to provide their service to us.

We do not sell your information to data brokers, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.

5. Your consent

You give consent when you submit a form (see the consent line under each form) or when you agree on the phone for us to share your details.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing our Privacy Officer at info@brantfordwaterdamage.ca. We will stop sharing your details from then on.

6. Storage outside Canada

Our service providers (for example email, database, website hosting and analytics tools) may store data in the United States. While it is there, it can be subject to the laws of that country, including access by courts and government authorities.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your request details for 24 months. After that, we delete them.

8. How we protect it

Only people who need your information to handle your request can access it. We use reputable service providers to store and send it.

9. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, email our Privacy Officer at info@brantfordwaterdamage.ca.

If you are not happy with how we handle your concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

11. Cookies

Google Analytics, including site search terms, is collected only after you click Accept on the cookie banner. Until then, and if you click Decline, the Google Analytics script does not load and no Google Analytics cookies are set. Ahrefs Web Analytics uses no cookies and runs on every page. To change your choice later, clear this site’s data in your browser and the banner will appear again.

12. Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. If we make changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top. Changes to this policy apply to your use of the Site only after they are posted. If a change affects how we use personal information we already hold, we will ask for your consent before using it in the new way.
